Edible Garden

TW edible garden

I walked past the edible garden in central Tunbridge Wells today. It’s a space which is normally replanted every year with different plants. This year it is sponsored by The Flowerpot Nursery and has been setup as an edible garden and a wildlife friendly garden.

It’s a small triangular plot on the corner of two roads near the library in the middle of town. I imagine that most people walk straight past it and don’t notice it is there.

Buzzing with life

If you stop and look it is buzzing with life, lots of bees, butterflies and other insects. I saw a couple of different butterflies, a large white and a small one which I couldn’t identify. Lots of different bees and hoverflies.

Plants

I noticed these plants initially but there are lots of others too.

  • Cosmos and marigolds
  • Herbs – chives, mint, fennel, borage and rosemary
  • Vegetables – beans, sunflowers, chard and what looks like some cabbage going to seed

I wish that they would plant more places like this.

Do you have any similar plots in your area?TW edible garden2
